The ISRM qualification in Clinical Sport & Remedial Massage has evolved over 20 years to best meet the needs of the client and it has become the benchmark for quality training in the UK. It has been developed by working therapists who really understand what it takes to provide good Remedial massage therapy and build a successful practice Almost all massage therapists are self-employed and work in the private sector of healthcare so our vocational training is centred round this. It enables therapists to safely and effectively treat clients from all walks of life, suffering a variety of musculoskeletal as well as medical conditions. This offers the therapist the greatest potential for success in a career that can be immensely satisfying and enjoyable. The ISRM qualification is externally validated by Edexel/BTEC at Level 5 which is the highest available in the UK. It is recognised nationally and in many other countries too. The qualification operates through a small number of validated schools and ISRM work very closely with them to ensure that high standards are achieved and improved on. We believe that it is not what you teach, but how you teach it that makes all the difference. So it is very important that our tutors are also working therapists with proven clinical success. |
ISRM Professional Association for Therapists

This is recognised by the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council CNHC which is the new government-backed regulatory body for the industry. ISRM full members are eligible to register with CNHC. | What is Sport & Remedial Massage?
The ISRM qualification centres round “Remedial” massage therapy, which simply means using manual therapy techniques to try to “remedy” a problem. But to offer a remedy you must do more than just relieve pain; you must also be able to understand how the problem came about and how it can be avoided in the future. To achieve this, our training covers a range of massage and advanced soft tissue techniques set within a framework of assessment and rehabilitation procedures. As well as dealing effectively with a variety of musculoskeletal problems this can also be used to help in recovery and reduce the symptoms in many medical conditions too.
